£300 for MacMillan Cancer Support

Our recent special quiz night in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support was a great success, raising over £130 on the night.

When combined with the almost £174 in coins from the bar-located gallon whisky jar we were able to write a cheque to the MacMillan charity for over £300.

The quiz itself consisted of eight rounds, with ten questions in each round. Unbelievably, despite these 80 questions, the final result was a two-team tie. In the end it was the "Bar Flies" team who emerged as winners after successfully answering the tie break question.

Here's the question:
How many spots are there on a standard set of dominoes?

Of course, these type of events have to be organised. So there's a number of people to thank.

Firstly a big thank you from MacMillan and the Committee to everyone who took part in the quiz. Secondly thanks to all those who donated raffle prizes or threw their change into the MacMillan gallon whisky jar during the last year. And finally a special thanks to Chairman David Spencer for being quizmaster for the evening and committee member Tracy Wickenden for organising both the charity event and the raffle.
