Kevin Shackleton Memorial Bowls Trophy 2014

On Saturday 6th September we hosted a competition to decide who'd be the first winners of the Kevin Shackleton Memorial Bowls Trophy.

The battle was between two 21 player teams, The Conservative Club against the Royal British Legion - who travelled all the way from the other end of Grove Avenue.

The prize was a trophy in honour and memory of Kevin Shackleton who sadly passed away earlier this year. Kevin was an active member of both clubs and is deeply missed.

The weather was very kind for early autumn, and the warm sunshine certainly helped keep the Club's bar staff very busy.

Members will be pleased to hear our team won out in the end and so had the honour of receiving the trophy from Kevin's wife Elaine and son Simon.

Most importantly the event, raffle and auction raised a fantastic £448 for the Macmillan Nurses and Cancer Support charity.

Elaine and family wish to thank everyone who played a part in this wonderful day, including Helena Norman for the lovely Chilli plus Alan and Joan Potts for organising the event. There's no doubt Kevin would be extremely proud of such a successful and memorable occasion.
